Alexei Navalny, Russian opposition leader and Putin’s foremost critic has lost an appeal against his jail terms.
He lost on the grounds of violating the terms of a 2014 suspended sentence for embezzlement. A sentence that required him to report regularly to the Russian Police.
Navalny was detained last month after his return to Russia from Germany. Where he was being treated for a near-fatal nerve agent attack which he blames the Kremlin for; to which the Kremlin denies any involvement.

After considering the facts of the case and the time he spent under house arrest from December 2014 – February 2015. The judge rejected his case but did cut six weeks off the two-and-a-half-year prison sentence. Navalny will return to the penal colony where he is serving his term.
