Attahiru Ahmad, the Emir of Anka has it that more than 100 miners abducted by bandits in Anka and Maru Local Government Areas of Zamfara State, with about 10 of them killed.
This report came through during the visit of Gen. Lucky Irabor, the Chief of Staff to the governor of the State, Governor Bello Matawalle. In a report given by NAN, the chairman of Zamfara Council of Chiefs Disclosed the information as to the killing of 10 persons by the bandits during the attack on the mining site.

While the said incident was said to have occurred on the 2nd day of March, it was also said to have been overshadowed by the abduction of the Jangede Schoolgirls to date.
The monarch during his statement emphasised the great importance of the miners and their contribution to the financial and economic growth of the state. In the same vein, he laments on the constant activities of bandits in the various mines and the lives, money and properties always lost in the process.
The Emir further expressed his surprise at the declaration of a no-fly zone in the state and while stating that there are states with more security challanges than Zamfara State, he had expected that the same measure would have also been taken to cover these other States.,
