Kidnapping: FG to install CCTV Cameras on Federal Roads, Says Minister of Police Affairs

The Federal Government of Nigeria has taken up a project of installing Closed Circuit Television [CCTV] cameras on all federal roads across the country in a bid to combat the alarming rate of kidnapping.

The minister of Police Affairs, Muhammad Dingyadi disclosed this information in an interview with Channels Television. The president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammad Buhari has given the orders, and an agreement for the CCTV Project has been entered into with NPS Technology Company. The project is worth 470 million.

in the words of the minister while hammering on controlling the menace of kidnapping and similar crimes in the country, he said;

“By the time this system is put in place, we will have a lot of technology to manage this crisis, particularly kidnapping. we will go a long way to ensure that we reduce the number of kidnapping in this country”

NPS Technology Company is said to have started purchases of equipment and cameras needed for the CCTV project. While the minister reiterated the need for partnerships in accomplishing the goals of the project; both private and public partnership alike.
