A source who spoke with Channels Television from Jangebe town through a phone call on Friday evening confirmed that these 7 girls returned home on their own. In their story, they claimed they made their way back after escaping the bandits by trekking along the forest for a long time.
According to the source, the escaped students said more had also escaped and are expected back soon.

The Zamfara Police Commissioner, CP Abutu Yar, had earlier said a joint search and rescue operation was already underway with a view to rescuing all 317 students. while we await the return of other schoolgirls that might have escaped per the report of the 7, we hope to get reports as well of the outcome of the police rescue operation in the state.
