NLC Protests in Corporate Affairs Commission HQ Abuja

Members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) protests to the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) Headquarters located at the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) had decided to stage a protest to the CAC headquarters as a result of what the union has said to be ‘anti-labour matters’. NLC alleges that CAC had administered policies that were very unfriendly to the welfare of workers of the commission.

The protest started at 8:00 am and has obstructed the workers of the commission from entering the building. workers are stranded outside and the normal business of the commission is on total hold.

The national leader of NLC, Comrade Ayuba Waba alleges that the commission has delayed payment of salaries of staffs, as well as promotions; but has instead spent money extravagantly on the painting of the Zone 5 Annexe office and fumigation of the agency.

A Job for which the commission was said to have paid millions of naira for; N25Million for painting and N35million for fumigation of the agency. Reports have it that NLC has contacted CAC with these complaints on a formal note but got no response in return, warranting the actions of NLC.

Whereas the Trade Union Congress (TUC) are in disagreement with the actions of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and have decided on resisting the picketing by NLC. They held a news conference reiterating their position on the matter.

Meanwhile, as NLC protests, the body has decided to stand its ground regardless and not relent in picketing CAC for the next three days until their demands are met.
